 Financial Planning &  Analyst (FP&A)

 

Reports To 

Chief Financial Officer

 

Purpose: 

Provides financial and operational support to the Company in order to achieve their business goals and objectives.  Primary functions include the performance of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, margin reporting and analysis across customers, vendors and cost centres. This role will play a critical role in maintaining company-wide standardized business performance measures including key performance indicators (KPI’s), greater visibility surrounding margin reporting as well as supporting ad hoc projects and reporting within Finance, Sales and Operations.  This position is located at our headoffice in Acton, Ontario.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Forecasting and Budgeting: Develop, maintain, and analyze financial forecasts and budgets that are aligned with short and long-term goals of Purity. This includes collaborating with different departments to gather information, preparing detailed financial models, and presenting findings to senior management.

2. Variance Analysis: Compare actual financial results against forecasts and budgets, analyze variances, and provide explanations and recommendations for adjustments or improvements.

3. Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. This may include dashboards, KPI’s, treasury reporting and customized financial analysis covering Finance, Sales and Operations.

4. Margin Reporting: Update and maintain accurate costing of inventory to support effective customer pricing. Review the adequacy of inventory standards throughout the year and update as required. Collaborate with the sales team to review pricing and analyze margin variances across customer and vendor base, ensuring pricing strategies align with business goals.

5. Ad-Hoc Analysis: Provide financial analysis for special projects, investment opportunities, acquisitions, or cost-cutting initiatives.

6. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy in reporting and forecasting.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, with a CPA designation, or Certified Corporate FP&A Professional.

 Experience:

  • 5 + years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience or exposure to inventory costing environment

 

Knowledge:

  • Strong ability to build models and develop internal financial reports to assist departments in managing their business on an on-going basis as well as assist with projections of revenues and expenses.
  • Highly motivated individual who will aggressively pursue knowledge of the business to produce better and more meaningful information to support decision making process.
  • Strong experience with accounting, financial planning, reporting, analysis, and system

implementations.

  • Excellent analytical and modelling skills with in-depth experience in financial analysis.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with those outside the finance function including Sales and Operations
  • Exceptional analytic and financial analysis skills with the ability to dig deep without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel and other financial software platforms
  • Highly adept at extracting and analyzing large data sets for business insights and reporting across various data platforms

  • Excellent time management skills with a very high level of attention to details.
  • Ability to multi-task with tight deadlines and prioritize crucial deliverables.
