ABOUT THE JOB:

The Janitor + Maintenance Worker is responsible for the routine and general maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep of the warehouse zones and grounds. They also help with general maintenance throughout the building, as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     Machine maintenance:

             i.    Cleans and tops up batteries of all electric pallet movers and forklifts on a regular schedule. 

            ii.    Tracks and records hours meters on all machines and reports planned maintenance schedules to Facilities + Equipment Coordinator. 

            iii.   Reports any malfunctions or problems to Facilities + Equipment Coordinator + Assistant Manager. 

2.       Floors:

             i.      Maintains the warehouse floors using electric sweeper/scrubber. Manually sweeps and mops where necessary including pallets bays and repack shelving area.  Responds to                         wet clean-up calls in the warehouse.

3.       Grounds:

             i.      Clears debris and sweeps loading docks. Reports any exterior damage or concerns. 

4.       Cardboard/Shrink Wrap Recycling:

             i.      Gathers all non-useable cardboard and shrink wrap and recycles accordingly. 

5.       Garbage:

             i.      Empties garbage cans. 

6.       Damage and shrinkage:

             i.      Responsible for keeping all damage stock accounted for and given proper dispensation including 50% off, garbage, donation, cleaning and restocking, etc.

7.       Shelving:

              i.       Responsible for keeping repack, Wellness and stickering shelving dust free. 

8.       General:

              i.       Responsible for keeping warehouse locations and repack area organized and tidy. 

9.       Parking lot and entrance:

              i.       Clears a path in winter when it snows. De-ice (salt) as necessary.

10.   Facilities:

              i.        Performs tasks such as changing lights, reconfiguring shelves, helps to set up workstations, as assigned. Patrols for rodent activity and reports as required. 

11.   Warehouse:

              i.        May be called upon to order pick.

12.   Other duties:

              i.        as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS + EXPECTATIONS:

• Able to operate a pallet mover (forklift not necessary)
• Able to operate an electric floor scrubber
• Can lift up to 50lbs as needed
• Able to in below freezing temperature for moderate periods of time (outer clothing provided)
• Basic computer skills
• Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
• Handiness with general tools for small, easy repairs is an asset
• Experience of two (2) years doing general warehouse clean up/janitorial duties/minor repairs preferred

COMPENSATION + WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is full-time, permanent position with a schedule of 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. The hourly wage is $23.10, with extended health + dental benefits available after three (3) months of employment.
