ABOUT THE JOB
This primary focus of this role is Order Picking, while supporting our Shipping team when needed. When Order Picking, this role will manually pick orders of natural and organic packaged food products and place them onto pallets for shipping. When Shipping, this role will work with the Head Shipper to help to prepare out-going orders in an efficient, safe and professional manner. The duties include, but are not limited to: run Outbound Shipment reports from our software system, contact freight carriers as needed, follow SOPs regarding inspection of trucks, trailers and vehicles, cross reference BOLs, load pallets onto trucks following SOP instructions, and work with various departments within Purity. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

ORDER PICKING:

• Pick products as indicated on individual pick lists.
• Place products on pallet such that they are stable, secure, and well-balanced.
• Be familiar with warehouse layout, including directional access and location codes.
• Meet and exceed expectations related to accuracy and productivity.
• Adhere to safety standards, both in equipment use and in picking procedures.
• Learn and follow steps to choose correct pallet for different customers.
• Follow procedures when product is out-of-stock.
• Place pallets in correct staging area (for QC to check or for shipping).
• As directed, wrap pallets and prepare for shipping.
• Complete paperwork as required (pallet tags, tracking paperwork, etc.)
• Learn and follow spill clean-up procedures.
• Participate in inventory as required.
• Assist with general warehouse clean-up/housekeeping.
• Follow Food Safety and GDP guidelines as related to both positions
• Communicate in person and over the phone with freight carriers and courier partners
• Consolidate orders, from all three zones and our Wellness division, for shipping
• Use pallet movers to load pallets onto trucks following SOP procedures

QUALIFICATIONS + EXPECTATIONS:

• Must have previous warehouse picking and shipping experience.
  
• High level of physical ability and endurance.
  
• Can lift up to 50lbs.
  
• Repeated lifting, bending, twisting, standing, reaching.
  
• Attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
  
• Ability to work autonomously; be self-directed and complete work independently.
  
• Reading comprehension of alphanumeric codes.
  
• Food Safety trained.
  
• Machine operation experience preferred (ride-on pallet mover)
  
• Knowledge of warehouse (distribution) operations and flow.
  

COMPENSATION + WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a full-time and contract position (40 hours/week) with options for overtime as required. The schedule is Tuesday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm. The contract is for 3-months. 
The wage for Order Picking is $23.10/hour,  and the wage for Shipping is $24.02/hour.
